Monarch Butterflies are milkweed butterflies, making it an insect. It is one of the best known butterfly species of North America; however, they are migratory by nature and can be therefore found in Central America and other nearby locations such as along the Caribbean and in South America. Monarchs are the only butterfly to migrate both north and south, although no single individual will ever make a round trip journey and instead it takes two generations to complete a full migration.
